Summary
The purpose of the CDBG Program is to assist in developing viable communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, especially for persons of low and moderate income. Activities must meet one of the following national objectives for the program: benefit low- and moderate-income persons; aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight; and/or meet other community development needs having a particular urgency because existing conditions pose a serious and immediate threat to the health or welfare of the community where other financial resources are not available to meet such needs. The County must also give priority to activities which benefit low- and moderate-income persons.
Eligible applicants are municipal governments (except Haverford and Upper Darby Townships and Chester City, which receive grants directly from US Department of Housing and Urban Development) and qualified non-profit organizations.
Questions and requests for assistance may be directed to Nicole Gannon at gannonn@co.delaware.pa.us or by phone at (610) 891-5427.
