Delaware County hosted its 5th Annual Delaware County Sustainability Conference on Friday, March 13th, 2026, at Swarthmore College. More than 300 attendees participated in the inspiring all-day event. The program kicked off with welcoming remarks from Delaware County Councilwoman Elaine Paul Schaefer, Swarthmore Borough Mayor Conlen Booth, and Swarthmore College VP of Sustainability and Strategic Initiatives Elizabeth Drake.
Attendees were then moved by Keynote Presenter Steve Ward of Scranton Tomorrow who reminded all of the healing power of nature and the hope that it can bring to our communities. The Plenary Presentation then provided an informative and thought-provoking overview of data center impacts, presented by Anneke van Rossum of the Delaware River Keeper Network and Robert Routh of NRDC. Presentations were also offered by the Swarthmore College Office of Sustainability and Delaware County Office of Sustainability sharing updates on programs and strategic initiatives. Attendees enjoyed the rest of the day networking with 38 different organizations, making connections over a delicious lunch, and attending breakout sessions or tours of their choosing in the afternoon.
