The County’s Role in Maintaining 43 Critical Structures
The County of Delaware is responsible for the ownership and maintenance of 43 bridges. These structures play a vital role in connecting neighborhoods, supporting local travel, and ensuring safe passage for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians.
To ensure the safety and maintenance of its bridges, and secure funding, the County has partnered closely with various engineering firms. In January 2025, the County awarded a 3-year bridge management contract to Herbert, Rowland, and Grubic, Inc. (HRG).
As part of our ongoing efforts, you may occasionally see construction activity or temporary detours near bridge locations. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue investing in a safer, more connected County.
To report a bridge concern, contact the County’s Public Works Department at (610) 891-4668.
