About the County Aid Program
The County Aid program is a funding allocation supporting critical municipal transportation infrastructure. It is funded through County Liquid Fuels Taxes administered and distributed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation [PennDOT]. The program has a long history of supporting our 49 local municipalities to improve transportation infrastructure within their borders, including repaving roadways, installing ADA-compliant sidewalks, improving stormwater management. Funding allocation letters are mailed to municipalities in the first quarter of each calendar year.
Municipalities work closely with PennDOT Municipal Services Specialists for project approval and closeout. All projects comply with PennDOT’s Publication No. 9 – the administrative guide to the use of Liquid Fuels Taxes. Municipalities are diligent in their compliance with the intricacies of the policies and procedures to keep their roadways safe for both their residents and visitors.
2026 County Aid Program
The Public Works Department, in collaboration with its engineering consulting firm, HR, recently hosted two informational sessions to provide municipalities with important details regarding the 2026 County Aid Program. The presentations outlined the application process, key deadlines, and responses to frequently asked questions. In addition, the sessions included an overview of potential changes being considered for the 2027 program as well as information concerning a Low Volume Road Grant Program, offered by the Delaware County Conservation District.
Please note that each participating municipality received an envelope containing the 2026 allocation letter, along with other important information related to this year’s County Aid program. If you did not receive your envelope, it may have been collected by your County Engineer.
Allocation amounts for each municipality are also available at the link below:
