Delaware County Announces 32 Ballot Drop Boxes Will be Accepting Ballots on October 20

The Delaware County Bureau of Elections has released the preliminary list of 32 ballot drop box locations, dispersed throughout municipalities across the County. By 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, each of the 32 ballot drop boxes will be open and accepting Delaware County ballots.

Ballot drop boxes, approved by the County and purchased with funds provided by a generous grant from the Center for Tech and Civic Life, are designed to provide a safe, sound and secure method of voting to augment traditional in-person voting and vote-by-mail options long available to residents of Delaware County. Delaware County and the Philadelphia Union have partnered to host a three-day Pop-up Voter Service Center at Subaru Park in Chester on October 16, 17 and 18

The Pop-Up Voter Service Center will be managed by the Delaware County Bureau of Elections and staffed by employees of the County. Delaware County residents are invited to stop by for a variety of election services including voter registration, registration status confirmation, mail-in and absentee ballot requests and drop offs, get answers to election questions and more. Delaware County Board of Elections Finalizes Polling Places

The Delaware County Board of Elections has finalized the list of polling places for the November 2020 General Election during its October 13 meeting.

A PDF of the completed list of polling locations can be downloaded from the Delco Votes! website’s “Your Polling Place” page. We have also created a helpful interactive map that illustrates the location of each polling place in the County, accessible from the same page.

Polling locations can also be accessed on the Pennsylvania Department of State Find Your Polling Place lookup tool.

The Delaware County Bureau of Elections holds October 13 Meeting

A meeting of the Delaware County Board of Elections took place on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 3:30 p.m., in Delaware County Jury Conference Room 115, 1st Floor, Government Center Building, Media, Pennsylvania to consider polling place changes and other matters relating to the General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 and to address any other matters lawfully coming before the Board.

The Delaware County Bureau of Elections continues to work to coordinate the installation and distribution of Ballot Drop Boxes across the county.

The County anticipates that most drop boxes will be installed and ready for use by early next week. The goal is to have every approved drop box deployed and functional for the full two weeks before the general election, ensuring that voters have adequate time to cast their vote. We hope to share the finalized list later this week. In the meantime, voters are reminded that they can cast their vote in the ballot boxes located at the three Voter Service Centers in Media, Chester and Upper Darby. New Poll Watcher Guidance Issued by the State

The PA Department of State released new guidance concerning poll watchers and authorized representatives at the pre-canvass and canvass of ballots. It clarifies the qualifications and conditions that must be met for individuals to serve these roles, and specifies what they are and are not permitted to do.

Importantly, the guidance reiterates that “poll watchers and authorized representatives have no legal right to observe or be present at county election offices, satellite offices or designated ballot return sites, except to vote their own ballot or to perform personal tasks expressly permitted by the Election Code.”

Delaware County Bureau of Elections Releasing Mail-in Ballots

One month prior the 2020 General Election, the Delaware County Bureau of Elections has begun releasing ballots to voters who requested either a mail-in or absentee ballot.

Over 100,000 vote-by-mail ballots were released on Saturday, October 3, and an additional 9,000 vote-by-mail ballots are scheduled to be released later this week. Delaware County Awarded $2.2 Million Grant for Safe Elections
