Clean the Green Park Cleanup Event and National Public Health Week Initiatives Announced
The Delaware County Health Department (DCHD) proudly celebrates its third anniversary of operations today, Wednesday, April 2, 2025. For the past three years, DCHD has been dedicated to serving, protecting, and improving the health and well-being of all in Delaware County. As part of DCHD’s anniversary tradition of giving back to Delaware County, it is excited to announce the return of its annual ‘Clean the Green’ initiative on April 4, 2025. DCHD will also celebrate National Public Health Week (NPHW) in a special way this year. NPHW is a time to recognize public health contributions and addresses key health issues.
Building on last year's event's success, ‘Clean the Green’ will unite DCHD staff again in a hands-on effort to support community well-being. This staff-driven cleanup effort to restore and beautify local parks represents the core values of DCHD’s public health work. A cleaner environment reduces hazards, deters pests, and promotes overall mind-body wellness. Staff volunteers will clean up litter, paint structures, and plant to enhance the enjoyability of our public spaces.

National Public Health Week
To celebrate National Public Health Week 2025 (April 7-11), DCHD will launch a special social media campaign highlighting the vital role that public health plays in our daily lives. Throughout the week, we will showcase how each division of the Delaware County Health Department works to promote wellness, prevent disease, and protect the health and safety of our communities.
From emergency preparedness and environmental health to disease prevention and family services, our posts will illustrate the many ways public health touches many aspects of our community. Follow us on social media to learn more about the impact of public health and why it matters now more than ever.
“The Clean the Green initiative and National Public Health Week celebrations are about more than just picking up litter or appreciating our public health workers,” said Delaware County Health Department Director Lora Siegmann Werner. “They are about fostering pride in our shared spaces and educating our colleagues and neighbors on the crucial role that public health plays in all of our lives.”
