Released: January 10, 2022

Free Rapid Testing and PCR Testing Available

Delaware County now has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the Southeastern PA region. In response to the surge in cases and the urgent demand for COVID-19 testing, Delaware County has partnered with Personic Health Care, a local Springfield-based health provider, to open a new county-wide COVID-19 testing facility.

The site, located at the Delaware County Emergency Training Center in Sharon Hill, will provide free drive-through COVID-19 testing to hundreds of Delaware County residents each day — helping to address the growing urgent need for testing to slow the virus’ spread amid the Omicron surge.

“COVID-19 cases are rising. Testing is an important tool to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to keep our loved ones and the community safe,” said Dr. Monica Taylor, Chair of Delaware County Council. “This new site will help address the growing demand for testing by expanding access to residents across Delaware County and is being launched as a result of a successful partnership between the County and Personic Health Care, which has been a leader in local testing.”

The Sharon Hill testing site will provide access to both the rapid on-site Antigen testing, with results available in as little as 15 minutes, as well as RT-PCR testing, the gold standard in COVID testing. Because Personic operates its own lab, PCR results will be available quickly, with a one-day turnaround.

All testing services will be available at no cost regardless of health insurance or immigration status. Appointments are not required, but strongly suggested. Individuals can schedule a test at https://covidtestdelco.com/.

“We are proud to partner with Delaware County to provide expanded testing to serve patients in our home community,” said Dr. Azmat Husain of Personic Health Care. “Since the beginning of the pandemic, our testing site at the Springfield Mall has become one of the busiest in Pennsylvania. This new partnership will allow us to serve hundreds of more patients a day and will provide a new tool to help keep families safe.”

“The County commends our local partners and the State for coordinating efforts to offer increased access to testing as we face a surge in COVID-19 across the County,” said Delaware County Board of Health Chair and the County’s COVID-19 Task Force Director, Rosemarie Halt. “During this time of extremely high transmission, we remind residents of the critical need to wear surgical masks properly, adhere to social distancing, and practice hand washing and get vaccinated. Vaccines remain our most effective tool to fight the virus and all residents are encouraged to get vaccinated.”
