Delaware County, PA — Delaware County will host its 4th annual Juneteenth Celebration on Thursday, June 19, at Rose Tree Park. This festive event will feature live music, family-friendly activities, food, community resources, talented local vendors—and much more!
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates June 19, 1865—the day when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. The holiday is a powerful reminder of the ongoing journey toward justice and equality, and a celebration of African American history, culture, and contributions.
As part of the celebration, the County will once again showcase original artwork created by local students. All accepted submissions will be displayed during the Juneteenth event and may also be featured in future County publications and communications.
