Delaware County’s annual Memorial Day Parade to be held on May 27

Memorial Day serves as a poignant reminder of the immense sacrifices made by the brave members of the military who served our nation. It is a time to pause and reflect on the profound impact of their selflessness, courage, and unwavering dedication to defending our freedoms.

Delaware County Council in partnership with Media Borough and the U.S. Veteran’s Legacy project invite members of the community to attend the Annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27. The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. outside of the Media Theater (104 E State St, Media, PA) and will proceed down State Street and will conclude with a ceremony at the Delaware County Courthouse.

Media Borough is once again honored to welcome the Penncrest High School Marching Band, VFW organizations from throughout Delaware County, and dozens of classic cars to this year’s Memorial Day parade.

Honoring those who served is not only a gesture of gratitude but also a solemn duty to ensure that their legacy of valor and sacrifice is never forgotten. Their commitment to duty and honor inspires us to cherish the liberties we enjoy today and to strive for a better, more united future.

Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, traces its roots back to the aftermath of the American Civil War where it began as a way to honor and remember the soldiers who died during the conflict.

Over time, Memorial Day evolved to commemorate all American military personnel who died in service to their country. In 1971, Memorial Day became an official federal holiday, observed on the last Monday of May each year serving as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by those who have given their lives for the ideals of freedom and democracy.

Join us on Monday, May 27 at 10:00 a.m. as we come together to honor and remember the courageous military heroes who have served our nation. Let's pay tribute to their sacrifices and express our gratitude for their unwavering dedication to preserving our freedoms. Together, let's show our support and appreciation for our military heroes!
