Voters advised to disregard erroneous PA Department of State ballot mail dates

Delaware County Elections has completed the preparation, printing, and release of over 35,000 vote-by-mail ballots requested by Delaware County voters to-date, including mail-in, absentee, and Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB) ballots requested by military and overseas voters.

Delaware County Elections expects the bulk of these vote-by-mail ballots to begin arriving on Friday, October 15, and will continue to be delivered by the United States Postal Service over the weekend and through approximately Monday, October 18.

Delaware County vote-by-mail ballots are being delivered on schedule and on time. However, voters should be aware that the PA Department of State’s vote-by-mail online tracking tool is showing inaccurate mail dates for an unknown number of vote-by-ballots for voters across the State. The status of some vote-by-mail ballots show mail dates as far as September. As a result, some voters who have used the State’s look-up tool to check on the status of their vote-by-mail ballot have been understandably—and unnecessarily—alarmed about the non-delivery of their vote-by-mail ballot.

Delaware County voters are asked to be patient; all vote-by-mail ballots will be delivered in the next few days, more than two full weeks before Election Day.

Voters who nevertheless would like to confirm the status of their vote-by-mail ballot are advised to contact the Delaware County Election Hotline at (610) 891-VOTE. The Delaware County Election Hotline is available Mon. - Fri. from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Voters can also confirm the status of their vote-by-mail ballot or submit a new request for a vote-by-mail ballot in-person at the Voter Service Center in Media. Note that voters who visit the Voter Service Center can register to vote, request a vote-by-mail ballot, receive a ballot, complete it, and return it in one short visit.

The Voter Service Center is located in the Government Center Building, 201 W. Front St., in Media, and is open Mon., Tue., Thurs., Fri. from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Wed. from 8:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Sat. from 9 a.m. – 12 noon., and Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
