Released: November 9, 2021

Upper Darby Marine Corps League members Patrick J. Hughes and Steve Quinn and Delaware County Park Police Officer and Marine Corps Veteran Stephen Spadaro joined Delaware County Councilman Kevin Madden, Councilwoman Christine Reuther, Executive Director Howard Lazarus, and Delaware County Controller Joanne Phillips in the raising of the U.S. Marine flag in honor of the founding of the United States Marine Corps which was established on November 10, 1775. It will fly from the flagpole in the courtyard of the Government Center and Courthouse complex for a week.

Throughout the year, Council raises flags in honor of all branches of the military invites veterans to join the flag raising. The Army flag was raised in June, the Coast Guard flag was raised in August, the Air Force flag was raised in September, and the Navy flag was raised in October.

The raising of each flag is a tribute to those serving, those who have served, and those who lost their lives defending our country and our freedom. Council extends their deepest gratitude to those serving or who have served in the military.
