Delaware County Council is sponsoring Delco Gives Back, an event for the community to give back to their neighbors in need.
Residents are invited to drop off donations including non-perishable food, baby items, pet items cleaning items, and masks on August 11 from 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m at the Penn State Brandywine Campus located at 25 Yearsley Mill Road (Route 352) in Media. The donation site is a drive-through and contact-less event. Volunteers will be collecting items from vehicles. Donations will be collected and distributed by members of Delaware County Emergency Services and the Citizen Corps of Delaware County.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve seen Delco doing what Delco does best- giving back and helping their fellow neighbors in need,” said Delaware County Council Vice Chair Dr. Monica Taylor. “Delco Gives Back gives residents an opportunity to safely help their community at a time when we need it the most.”
Suggested donation items include:
Non-perishable food such as canned meats, unsweetened cereal, spices, and powdered milk
Baby items including diapers, wipes, and formula
Pet food and cat litter
Cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, paper towels, and toilet paper
Disposable and homemade cloth masks
As a thank you to those who donate, the County will be giving out items including “Delco Strong” car magnets, giveaways from Delaware County Libraries and Wawa.
