Under the direction of DCPD, the Newtown Township Zoning Task Force is currently guiding an effort to re-write Newtown’s Zoning Code.
The project consists of several public meetings and multiple Task Force planning sessions, and a complete overhaul of the Township’s current Zoning Code. The project started in late 2018 and will continue through 2021, resulting in a new Code that will be consistent with the Township’s goals, and founded on clarity and ease-of-use.
As part of the initial public engagement work for the code, Newtown and DCPD hosted a Public Zoning Workshop at Marple-Newtown High School in November 2018. Find materials from the Newtown Township Public Zoning Workshop, held at Marple-Newtown High School on November 28, 2018, below.
The workshop brought together Newtown citizens from a variety of backgrounds to discuss the future of their Township. The Task Force, with help from Delaware County Planning Department staff, led attendees through a hands-on mapping exercise which allowed participants to reflect on the current conditions of Newtown, as well as think critically about the goals and needs of the future. This workshop was open to all and served to inform, engage, and facilitate conversations about the future zoning of Newtown Township.
Post-event surveys were analyzed for thematic trends and presented to the Newtown Zoning Task Force. The Presentation can be found at https://arcg.is/0S5bDm.
