Shift: 8:30 am to 4:30pm Mon - Fri / 35 Hours
The position of Arraignment Clerk involves preparing case files for criminal arraignment. The position requires the ability to follow written & oral instructions, computer knowledge & the operation of standard office equipment. Good organizational skills are required, along with the ability to prioritize work. Excellent communication skills are necessary to interact with other offices and staff by telephone and in-person
Receives weekly arraignment list (approximately 200-250 arraignments schedules per week): ensures list is revised/updated and accurate for Thursday arraignments.
Ensures related case files are obtained and complete with required information.
Prepares case-related information and checks files for subpoenas.
Arranges case files for the pre-arraignment interviews.
Updates arraignment list and case file folders appropriately.
Disperses arraignment list to Sheriff’s, Court Clerk services and bail department.
Attend court every Wednesday, which is an arraignment day.
Bring writs from constables to judge for signature.
Collect mail twice a day; 10:00am and 3:00pm from Office of Judicial Support.
Cover front counter, as needed.
Make files and designate them.
Put designations in DUI cases.
High school graduate or equivalent
Three years-experience in the DA’s office or comparable in the court system. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Applications to access case information.
Detail-oriented to read through case files to search for information as it pertains to the arraignment process.
Ability to pass security background check.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
