Salary: $70,000 annual
The Public Health Nurse - STD/STI is responsible for providing professional nursing services in clinics, homes and communities to ensure effective health promotion and disease prevention services. During the COVID-19 pandemic response, the Public Health Nurse will assist with the County’s COVID-19 testing and vaccination programs.
Accurately document all drugs and vaccines administered as well as the results
Perform oral mucosal, "Orasure" and HIV testing accurately and according to universal precautions
Perform physical examinations in STD clinics and take vital signs in all clinic visits
Test treat and follow-up with STD clients
Provide health education HIV/STD clients
Provide health education and materials at the request of county residents or clients and provide on-site education to health and health-related groups
Provide accurate documentation of each interaction/visit with clients or of the inability to complete a home, clinic or phone visit
Provide referrals to other county departments and/or agencies for services
Attend continuing education programs and downlinks, staff meetings, program meetings and meetings with other organizations and epidemiology team for outbreaks
Conduct questions and answers on test specimens of blood, urine, and STD slides on a quarterly basis and participate in periodic chart reviews
Serve as preceptor for graduate and undergraduate university students
Participate in special educational outreach projects such as health fairs and lead screenings
Other duties and tasks needed during COVID-19 Pandemic response
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing (BSN)
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN), issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
Must have experience treating patients with STD’s/STI’s
Residency Requirement: Anyone applying for this job must reside in Delaware County or be willing to move to the County within six months of starting employment.
Legal Requirements: This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including, but not limited to, PA State Police, Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI clearance.
** Delaware County requires all employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination must be submitted before a candidate’s start date if hired.
