Summary

The County of Delaware seeks a Paralegal who will assist the Assistant Director-Labor Counsel and Assistant Director Labor Relations by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, and fact-checking; and preparation for collective bargaining negotiations.


Essential Duties

Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.

Drafts documents including grievance decisions, written determinations for employee complaints, and collective bargaining agreements

Researches and/or analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.

Interviews witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements

Prepares, organizes, stores, and files documents into case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.

Assists attorneys with collective bargaining, grievances and employee complaints.

Add intake calls, schedules hearings, and meetings

Perform all other duties, tasks, and special projects as assigned.


Qualifications

Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred, Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred

Paralegal certificate preferred

Related employment law and Human Resources experience preferred

Ability to handle multiple challenging assignments with attention to detail, organization, and critical thinking

Hands-on commitment to getting the job done
