Hours: 35 hours per week; generally, 8:30 –4:30 Monday through Friday with out-of-office meetings, site visits, and occasional evening and weekend events
Salary: $40,000
The Outreach Specialist performs day-to-day activities related to the planning, coordinating, and implementing of initiatives that promote the Libraries’ materials and services to Delaware County residents.
Under the general supervision of the Reference & Outreach Coordinator, the Outreach Specialist:
Assists with the development and implementation of adult and senior outreach activities in areas of the County that are unserved by a member library
Under the supervision of the Reference and Outreach Coordinator, collaborates with Delaware County Government Departments and Agencies to ensure that Library Services is represented at County events
Assists with the coordination and implementation of outreach activities with member libraries
Implements At-Home Services for residents of the county for whom this service does not already exist
Participates as part of a team at “pop up” library eventsat venues large and small, such as community centers, country clubs, public parks, and senior centers
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. Related experience demonstrating an enthusiasm for working withadults and seniors in a paid or volunteer setting preferred. Must be a strong communicator, both with the team and with patrons, ability to work in a team environment on a wide range of projects. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Valid PA driver’s license.
Residence Requirement: The County of Delaware has a residency requirement for employees. Anyone applying for this job must reside in Delaware County or be willing to move to the County within three months of starting employment.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, lift 25lbs to a height of up to 30 inches, carry 25lbs for up to 300 feet, drive a vehicle, talk and hear. Occasionally, the employee will reach or work with arms above shoulder height, bend at the waist while working; kneel, stoop, crouch or squat.
