Starting Salary: $33,451.60 annual/$18.38 hourly
Scheduled Hours: Assigned Judge’s/Master’s court/hearing room; or assigned Division. Regular hours are 8:30AM to 4:30PM; 35 hour work week, hours/schedule may vary according to court schedule of trials/hearings. Overtime required when court remains in session beyond 4:30PM; required to work weekends and Holidays when court is in session.


Duties of Position

For assigned Judge/Master or assigned Division: attends court proceedings to operate recording system; maintains detailed log of all phases of trial/hearing; records pertinent case information; monitors counter to record identifying numbers with corresponding case activity; forwards completed log to Baird control room.

Obtains trial lists and corresponding case files; prepares case related forms, documents, orders prior to, or after proceedings. Maintains custody of evidence exhibits.

Calls trials for Criminal/Civil court according to procedures of Commonwealth of PA; administer oath; takes verdict.

Maintains minutes sheets of court activities; prepares minutes for murder trails. Performs various care related duties when not in court.

Substitutes for other Court Information Officers.

NOTE: Will be responsible, upon the implementation of new technology, to electronically obtain and print case files for court; to record all court proceedings and complete/forward all related court documents/files electronically.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education: High School diploma or GED. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Experience: Three (3) years experience or comparable court experience. Ability to learn terms and courtroom procedures; must be extremely detail oriented; ability to communicate effectively with Judges/Masters, attorneys, trial/hearing participants.

Physical Requirements: Excellent hearing to listen to and accurately record trial/hearing proceedings; may be required to remain in court/hearing room for long periods of time (without a designated lunch hour) while trial/hearing continues.
