The Health and Wellness Coordinator position reports directly to the Human Resources Manager. The position assists with all matters related to employee health and wellness, to include, but not limited to: employee benefits, employee assistance programs, employee wellness, and employee stakeholder/morale committee. The position also serves in the capacity as a human resources generalist and will assist with orientation, onboarding, recruitment, hiring, and retention.
Bachelor’s degree in health promotion, public health, or related field
2+ years professional experience in health education, wellness promotion, or similar role
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and with a team
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Google Docs
Experience developing and delivering presentations
Experience with program evaluation and data analysis
Coordinating with other staff members to provide patients with an array of services, such as physical therapy or occupational therapy
Teaching patients about health topics such as nutrition, stress management, exercise, and disease prevention
Learning about the needs of patients in order to provide appropriate care and service
Preparing reports on patient progress and contacting health care providers when necessary
Assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
Referring patients to other medical professionals when appropriate
Scheduling appointments for patients with various physicians and specialists
Explaining procedures and answering questions about tests and treatments
Developing and implementing health education programs for individuals or groups of people
Develop and implement health and wellness programs that promote healthy lifestyles and meet the needs of a diverse population
Conduct needs assessments to determine program goals and objectives, and develop evaluation tools to assess program effectiveness
Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of program operations, including staffing, budgeting, marketing, and scheduling
Collaborate with other departments, agencies, and organizations to coordinate services and maximize resources
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, such as funders, community leaders, and participants
Write proposals and grant applications to secure funding for program initiatives
Recruit, train, and supervise program staff and volunteers
Promote programs through public relations and marketing efforts, and represent the organization at community events
Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments
Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence related to program activities
Stay up-to-date on trends in the health and wellness industry, and attend professional development workshops and conferences as needed
Perform administrative tasks as needed, such as updating records, ordering supplies, and processing invoices

Standard jail facility and office environment. Incumbent may be involved in sitting and walking at will, walking/standing and/or sitting for long periods, lifting/ carrying heavy objects, crouching/kneeling, bending at the waist, close and far vision, reaching, handling/ grasping/fingering objects, hearing sounds/communication. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the hazards associated with jail operations, such as potentially violent individuals and communicable disease. No prolonged extreme physical demands are associated with normal duties or assignments.
