Shift: 8:30 am to 4:30pm, extended hours as needed
Salary: $70,000 annual plus $3,500 sign on bonus


Summary

This School Nurse Liaison position supports the organization’s Vaccine for Children (VFC) program within Delaware County school districts. The Liaison worker will assist with managing the County’s immunization service delivery, as well as assist in training development, administration, and quality control procedures. Additionally, this position will provide consultation on issues related to COVID; and participates in conferences and meetings with school nurses, administrators, and childcare providers.


Essential Duties

Assure that the health needs of disparate populations in Delaware County are addressed related to at risk and vulnerable populations as appropriate.

Assist and/or facilitate the creation of school health topics and school nursing policies, procedures to support compliance with state and federal statutes, in addition to accepted standards of nursing practice.

Work with local schools and childcare centers to identify needs, gaps, resources, and priorities related to school health and early childhood especially as it related to COVID-19 response and recovery.

Provide consultation and professional development to school health personnel, school nurses, parents/guardians, and others regarding school health and school nursing issues and priorities including COVID-19 planning, response, and recovery.

Assure adherence to requirements for mandated vaccines and promotion of infectious disease control and safety.

Analyze school health records and reports in order to develop and/or modify health programs to meet healthcare needs of school communities

Ensure that state immunization program is managed appropriately in schools as mandated by the PA Department of Health

Provide nursing consultation in communicable disease control and serve as liaison between the Delaware County School District and the DCHD.

Maintain knowledge of current laws and regulations pertaining to nursing, health care, and public health as it relates to school health in particular

Consult with RN’s, school district staff, school district administrative staff, parents, other school districts and the public regarding health issues affecting students in schools

Attend pertinent workshops, conferences or training sessions in order to keep up with the school nursing “Standard of Practice”

Work with both school officials and the state with the development and revision of guidance related to COVID 19 for schools and school districts within the state including testing, screening, outbreak information, reporting requirements, and general school-related questions.

Keep current with local school districts, national and international disease trends, and outbreaks

Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent PLUS Nursing degree, BSN preferred

Active and unencumbered PA Nurse License; RN preferred

Knowledge of Childhood Immunizations and VFC Program

Healthcare provider CPR certification

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organizational skills

Customer service experience

Ability to work as part of a team

Ability to maintain confidential information and handle confidential matters

Bilingual (English/Spanish) ability a plus.

A valid driver’s license is required

Residency Requirement: Anyone applying for this job must reside in Delaware County or be willing to move to the County within six months of starting employment.

Legal Requirements: This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including, but not limited to, PA State Police, Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI clearance.

** Delaware County requires all employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination must be submitted before a candidate’s start date if hired.
