Position Description

The Court Liaison works to serve custodial parents applying for child support services with the assistance of the Office of Support Enforcement by facilitating communication and collaboration between Domestic Relations, the Court, and the OSE staff Attorneys, providing applicants with appropriate documents and directives, responding to applicants, attorney, Court Unit and Judicial requests for information, Orders, Discovery, telephone applications and continuances. Assists Staff Attorneys with Court Hearing preparation, and provides support during hearings with by keeping judges and attorneys informed of information, attendance and support guideline information.


Duties of Position

Screen members in a timely manner for application approval, and determine course of action for support services and case options.

Make direct connections to a wide range of services for custodial parents, including, but not limited to paternity establishment, child support establishment and enforcement, modification assistance.

Inform the judicial officer, domestic relations workers, and the Staff attorney assigned to the case in a timely manner about client issues, concerns, continuance requests, document availability and third party requests. Assist with case preparation for Court.

Facilitate collaboration and communication, and timely responses between custodial parents and the Staff Attorneys.

Provide non-case-specific consultation to callers.

Track cases where screening, assessments, or consultations have occurred, and related outcomes or court orders.

Provide data regarding the work of the Office of Support Enforcement for monitoring outcomes and audits.

Identify and strengthen relationships and referral processes with current community resources.

Problem solve with community and statewide resources to expand services available to participants in the community.

Attends meetings and trainings as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree with major course work preferably in the social sciences or related field and two years of experience in criminal justice, behavioral health, or related field. Additional work experience in these or other related fields may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required formal education. Master’s degree in one of the above areas strongly preferred. OR One year of experience as a Court Liaison with the Domestic Relations.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. This position is subject to varying and unpredictable situations; may handle emergency or crisis situations; is subject to many interruptions; may handle multiple calls and inquiries simultaneously.
