Position Description

The Compensation Analyst will assist with the implementation of a standardized compensation structure. Once established, the Compensation Analyst will regularly research job requirements and evaluate job positions against the structure as well as market data.


Essential Duties

Under the direction of the HR Director and Assistant HR Director, the Compensation Analyst will:

Prepare and maintain job descriptions for each position in the organization, ensuring descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents

Interview and survey employees and managers to gather and document job, organizational, and occupational information including duties, responsibilities, and skills required by each job

Assess job duties and requirements to determine FLSA classification and appropriate salary range

Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges

Prepare and maintain job classifications and salary scales

Prepare and present summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information

Gather data from market-based compensation surveys, use spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends

Evaluate and implement job analysis instruments and materials

Conduct data and cost analyses to be used in employee negotiations and collective bargaining agreements

Advise management on applicable state and federal employment regulations, benefits and compensation policies, human resource procedures and collective agreements

Performs all other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned


Minimum Experience and Training Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field

3-5 years compensation experience

Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods

Extensive knowledge of human resource laws, regulations and best practices

SAP experience strongly preferred

Work in in a collective bargaining environment preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to build collaborative relationships with employees at all levels of the organization

Hands-on commitment to getting the job done

Residence Requirement: The County of Delaware has a residency requirement for employees. Anyone applying for this job must reside in Delaware County or be willing to move to the County within six months of starting employment.
