County Council is committed to supporting our Veterans as a demonstration of our appreciation for your Military Service.
This program will also enable you to register your DD-214, or equivalent military discharge document, at the Delaware County Office of the Recorder of Deeds, thereby providing a safe backup copy of this important document.
The Veterans ID Card will be issued by the Recorder of Deeds to any veteran who is discharged under honorable conditions and will certify that you have provided the necessary documentation that supports your military service.
You will need to provide a copy of your DD-214, or equivalent military discharge document issued after 1950. (See below)
If a veteran's DD214 does not designate that character of separation or service was under honorable conditions, the DD214 must be accompanied by a document such as a copy of an honorable discharge to demonstrate that the veteran's character of separation or service was under honorable conditions to receive a Delaware County Veterans ID Card.
You must also present a valid, current photo ID.
Once this registration is completed, you will be issued to obtain your photo ID Card.
This process will normally take about five minutes.
The Delaware County Recorder of Deeds will scan and record a veteran's DD-214 (issued after 1950) or other documentation for separation from the military at the Recorder of Deeds office, room 108 in the Delaware County Government Center, Media. Hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily. The veteran should bring all separation documents along with a photo ID. The document copies are only accessible by the veteran, his or her family or authorized military personnel.
Veterans who cannot locate their DD-214 or other separation documents can get an application from the Delaware County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, to acquire a copy of the discharge document from the National Military Personnel Records Center.
