Historic Induction Ceremony in front of a standing room
only crowd held at Courthouse


History was made as three members of Delaware County Council- Christine A. Reuther, Elaine Paul Schaefer, and Dr. Monica Taylor along with Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer were sworn in to begin four-year terms during an Induction Ceremony held on Jan. 6.

The three new Democrat Council members, elected in November join incumbent Democrats Brian Zidek and Kevin Madden, leading to a historic 5-0 Democratic majority.

President Judge Kevin F. Kelly presided over the ceremony in The Honorable John V. Diggins Ceremonial Courtroom at the historic Delaware County Courthouse.

After the Induction Ceremony, County Council held its reorganization meeting where Brian P. Zidek was elected as Chairman and Dr. Monica Taylor was elected as Vice Chair.

During the standing room only Induction Ceremony, Christine A. Reuther was administered the Oath of Office by the Honorable Ellen Ceisler, Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court Judge. Her introduction was by her husband, John M. Loiselle and daughter, Claire Loiselle. The presentation of the Certificate of Election was done by Deborah Lofton, and the Bible was held by her aunt, Patricia Dimling Reuther.

Councilwoman Elaine Paul Schaefer was administered the Oath of Office by the Honorable Ellen Ceisler, Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court Judge. Her introduction was by her daughter, Isabel M. Schaefer; the presentation of the Certificate of Election was done by her son Matthew A. Schaefer, and the Bible was held by her son J. Ellis Schaefer.

Vice Chair Dr. Monica Taylor was administered the Oath of Office by the Honorable Ellen Ceisler, Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court Judge. Her introduction was by Heather Boyd; the presentation of the Certificate of Election was done by her husband Jason Taylor, and the Bible was held by her daughters Maya and Zoey Taylor.

District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer was administered the Oath of Office by Delaware County President Judge Kevin F. Kelly. His introduction was by Joseph M. Torsella, Treasure of Pennsylvania. The presentation of the Certificate of Election was done by Robert W. O'Donnell, and the Bible was held by his children John and Sarah Stollsteimer.

The invocation was given by Delaware County Sheriff Reverend Jerry L. Sanders. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Martin Costella, Commander of the Wayne American Legion Post 418 and the National Anthem was performed by the Upper Darby High School Encore Singers.
