Rose Tree Park is situated on 118 rolling acres in Upper Providence Township, just outside of Media. The picturesque park features mature trees, a woodland trail, picnic tables, a playground, gazebo, outdoor amphitheater, and a retired steeplechase. The park is a popular destination for cross country running, photography, dog walking, hawk watching, 5k charitable events, summer concerts, and more.

Rose Tree Park is the site of three historic buildings which now house several County offices: the Leedom House, the Hunt Club, and the renovated old Rose Tree Tavern, which was built in 1737 and appears on the National Registry of Historic Places. Visitors will find the Delaware County Parks & Recreation Department in the Leedom House, the Conservation District in the Hunt Club building, and the VisitDelco, PA tourism bureau in the old Tavern.

Rose Tree Park’s ADA-inclusive playground opened in 2023 and was designed for children ages 2 to12; it features a swing zone, a spinning zone, an area for children ages 2 to 5, and a large climbing tower for children ages 5 to 12. There are also structures that allow children with disabilities to actively play- including monkey bars that are at lower height and swings that can accommodate children with disabilities. The playground is fenced in and has covered picnic tables. It is open daily from dawn to dusk, except during summer concerts when it closes at 7:20 PM.

Tips for new visitors:
There is a parking lot in the back of the park with a sidewalk directly to the playground.
Restrooms are located just off the back parking lot in the stone building.
We do not rent out or reserve the facility for parties.
The playground is a dog-free, smoke-free area.

Community Garden

Rose Tree Park’s popular Community Garden program features over one hundred 20’ x 25’ farm plots, which local gardeners lease and tend throughout the growing season. Supplying their own fencing and tools, the gardeners utilize organic methods to grow everything from fragrant flowers and aromatic herbs to delectable heirloom fruits and vegetables.

Garden plots are leased annually from April through November for the nominal fee of $30. Current garden members have the option to renew their plots each Spring; prospective gardeners should join the waiting list. As plots become available, they’re offered to the waitlist in first-come, first-serve order; the list carries over to the following year if necessary. For further details, please contact the Parks & Recreation Department. Please note: The waiting list for the 2024 season is closed.

The Summer Festival

Summer Festival

The Delaware County Summer Festival concert series takes place annually in the park's outdoor amphitheater, enticing thousands of visitors to bring their blankets and lawn chairs to the hillside. All events are free to the public and run Wednesday through Sunday nights for nine weeks during the summer.

The Festival of Lights

Festival of Lights

During the daylight-deprived month of December, Rose Tree Park sparkles at night with its annual Festival of Lights display. Dozens of illuminated trees and lit displays draw visitors back every year to walk in the winter wonderland and linger in the festive atmosphere. A treasured Delco tradition for more than four decades, The Festival of Lights provides a perfect opportunity to get in the holiday spirit with friends and family or take a sweetheart stroll after dinner.

The popular annual tradition begins with a Tree Lighting Ceremony featuring Delaware County Council, choral music, local vendors, and a visit from Santa. The Festival of Lights is a walk-through display with free admission and parking. Friendly, leashed dogs are permitted. Handicapped parking is available.
