Job Opening: Senior Public Health Medical Advisor

Shift: 20-35 hours per week during office hours which are 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Must have availability to be on call 24/7/365.
The primary role of the Senior Medical Advisor is to coordinate, collaborate and communicate the existing public health programs which are currently being provided to the residents of Delaware County. The specific responsibilities include:
Project leadership role with promotion of pertinent health policy
Community education focusing on healthy lifestyles issues
Stimulate substantive community participation in the public health discourse
Create medical access for County residents especially the underserved
Update County residents on current medical concerns
Promote guidelines to identify preventable and treatable illness
Work with the directors of the Intercommunity Health and Emergency Services Departments concerning planning for and response to disasters, emergencies and County public health related issues
Monitor the health status of the County population
Report to the County Public Health Task Force on the status and progress of initiatives
Member of the Delaware County Heroin Task Force and the HTF Medical Subcommittee
Support the formation of a county health department by participation in meetings and community education opportunities
Write standing orders as needed for Flu clinics or other immunization clinics or testing facilities needed by county in coordination with designated public health authority
Participates in vaccination or testing programs as needed
Communicates with public health authorities on concerns in the county as well as assisting in implementation of public health guidance when directed to do so
Ensure that public health nurses are adhering to current public health guidelines and procedures in administration or performance or testing and or vaccinations.
Review county public health educational materials to ensure accuracy and educational value to the public
Assist in guidance to county administration on county employee health and wellness in coordination with county nurse
Other duties may be assigned by County Council or the Executive Director.
The Senior Medical Advisor may be a M.D., or D.O., Preferred qualifications include:
Licensed PA Physician
U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). Or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX-USA).
Master’s Degree in Public Health
Board certification in a specialty helpful
Public health experience, working in FQHC, or other public health entity preferred
Good communication and organizational skills
Residence Requirement: The County of Delaware has a residency requirement for employees. Anyone applying for this job must reside in Delaware County or be willing to move to the County within six months of starting employment.
