Community Resources
This page provides Delaware County residents with up-to-date information about local, state, and nonprofit resources available to help address food, housing, and financial insecurity.
At a time when many families are facing uncertainty about access to critical federal and state assistance programs—particularly the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—Delaware County is working to help residents navigate these challenges. The County is committed to providing clear guidance, connecting individuals to available services, and ensuring that no resident is left without support during this period of instability.
This page will be updated regularly in the coming days and weeks as new information and resources become available.
Update Regarding Nov. 8 Community Food Drive: Delaware County Community Food Drive Moved to Former Don Guanella School Site
Delaware County Council and the Department of Human Services are announcing a change in location for the Delaware County Community Food Drive, originally scheduled to be held at Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield on Saturday, November 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Due to the Cardinal O’Hara High School football team’s playoff game against Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School, scheduled for Saturday, November 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Cardinal O’Hara High School, the County’s Community Food Drive will be moved just down the street — about a quarter mile away — at the former Don Guanella School in Marple Township, part of the County’s Delco Woods site, located at 1797 Sproul Road, in Springfield.
Foods of Need include non-perishable, unopened food items with current expiration dates, including rice, dried beans (kidney, black, red, pinto, garbanzo, lentils, lima, navy, black-eyed peas, chickpeas), vegetable, mustard, and olive oils, chickpea, wheat, Maseca, and corn flour, sugar, cereal, peanut butter, and jelly.
Common staples such as canned vegetables and fruits, tuna, chicken, soups, stews, and pasta are also greatly appreciated. Infant formula and baby food (bagged separately for easy sorting) will also be accepted.
Date: Saturday, November 8
Time: 9 AM – 12 PM
Location: Former Don Guanella School, 1797 Sproul Road, in Springfield
Please note that this is a food collection event, not a food distribution event; all foods collected will later be distributed by food pantries.
