Celebrating Small Business Week in Delco

Delaware County was proud to host Department of Community and Economic Development Deputy Secretary Rick Vilello in celebration of Small Business Week.

During National Small Business Week, celebrated April 28- May 4 this year, small business owners are recognized for their determination and drive and for their contributions towards supporting local economy. The week also serves as a reminder for community members to support small businesses owners and their local downtown Main Streets.

During his visit, Deputy Secretary Vilello toured downtown Media with local leaders to emphasize the vital impact that small businesses have on the local economy. The tour, hosted by Media Business Authority and accompanied by Delaware County Council Chair Dr. Monica Taylor and the Delaware County Commerce Center, included stops at Stile by Per Lei, Three Potato Four, Earth & State, Ocean City Coffee Company, Two Fourteen, and Greatest Hits Records and Books.

Our Delaware County small businesses — shops, restaurants, and service providers — grow and flourish with the support of residents. By shopping or dining at local small businesses, residents provide support to their neighbors, help create jobs, and contribute to the local economy.

This week, and every week, we encourage residents to support a small business (or several!) in your community. They are the backbone of our local economy, and we need to have THEIR back!
